As the world undergoes major changes, including the emergence of developing countries and a technological revolution, Zhang Yunling shares his views on what this means for the future of the global system and global governance.
New challenges are emerging. Power shifts and strategic competition can lead to uncertainty, confrontation and even war. Registration for the event:Zhang Yunling 张蕴岭, expert on international issues, is Academy Member of Chinese Academy of Social Science (CASS); Chair Professor, Chairman of Academic Council, School of Northeast Asia Studies, President of Institute for International Studies, Shandong University. He also is the author of numerous books published in Chinese and English, including “On East Asian Regional Cooperation: Ideality and Reality”.
The digital lecture series “Chinese Perspectives: China and the World through the Eyes of Scholars” presents – in its third annual edition – leading Chinese scientists and their positions on current issues and developments in China and the world. Through lectures and the possibility for direct exchange and discussion, the series aim is to enter into dialogue and make perspectives of Chinese scholars accessible for European public debate. The series is jointly organized by Confucius Institute at Freie Universität Berlin and Confucius Institute Metropolis Ruhr, in cooperation with Confucius Institute at Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, Confucius Institute at Milan State University and Confucius Institute at University of Rome La Sapienza. The digital lectures are hosted via Zoom phone and video conference. Registration for the events is required.
