Conference Overview

The Institute of Classical, Mediterranean and Oriental Studies at the University of Wrocław is pleased to announce the first conference in Sinological Studies hosted at the University of Wrocław.

The conference aims to establish a new forum for dialogue among scholars working on China and the Sinophone world. In particular, the event is guided by three main objectives.

First, the conference seeks to promote a multidisciplinary and multisectoral perspective on Sinology. We welcome contributions from a wide range of fields – including literature, linguistics, philosophy, cultural studies, translation studies, didactics, and transcultural research – in order to highlight the richness and diversity of contemporary Sinological scholarship.

Second, the conference is intended as a meeting point between early-career researchers and experienced scholars. By encouraging participation across different academic stages, we hope to foster mentorship, intellectual exchange, and constructive discussion that can support the development of emerging researchers while benefiting from the expertise of established academics.

Third, the event aims to create a space for dialogue between Polish Sinology and the broader European and international Sinological community. Bringing together scholars working in Poland with colleagues from other countries will help strengthen academic networks, stimulate collaboration, and situate Polish Sinology more visibly within the diverse and multi-centred landscape of global Sinological studies.

Conference Scope and Panel Topics

We welcome paper and panel proposals addressing, but not limited to, the following areas:

  • Sinophone literatures
